"Organisms have figured out a way to take care of the place that is going to take care of their offspring" an

excellent quote from Janine Benyus, author of the book, Biomimicry: Innovation Inspired by Nature

I find this to be an excellent reference point for making many decisions...

And now, in honor of my annual blog submission, here is my new dog, adopted from a rescue group, Buster!

And he has convinced me to volunteer to help other cats and dogs also! I even got my first

foster dog adopted out in 1 week! Here is Buster closer to today's size, and yes he hikes!!!

and so, like many others, I am finding it difficult to remember to post to my blog

the news is that I am hoping to be moving to a new home, where I'll have space and sun and time to plant veggies and put  up a fence so the dogs can play all day!!! I'll post a pic if it all works out...

meanwhile, here's a flower from August in Prescott, while we anticipate a 7inch plus snow in 2 days!!! woohoo!  I think this might be the Wavy Leaved Soap Plant, chlorogalum pomeridianum???

Today my wonderful brother-in-law Brad sent me a link, so I could find and join a food Coop near me, which I did, and so Saturday morning I'll go pick up my first bountiful baskets and maybe include a picture too!

I also looked up and found how to join my local Audubon and will do that with the outgoing mail! So I can meet like-minded folks on birding outings and help with habitat preservation etc.

I arrived at the beginning of July, and within 2 months I had seen 15 new birds that I had never seen before, plus a tarantula and a bunch of javelinas! This nice girl stopped traffic to get out and give this little guy a lift across the road. Cool right!

found cliffs and a creek and cairns

So we survived the icy, snowy cliffs and going off trail on the way back! Beautiful and awesome as usual.
Cairns and the cliff we climbed up

Looking back down to where the cairns were

Wow, a blank, white screen,  and no time to use it right now. Dogs cannot be ignored. I hope this will be fun, and a good way to share things. Here are Sam and Cassie, who need to go to Thumb Butte for a little hike!
